Step 1. Prepare the Glass surface to cut
- Select a flat and large surface area. To avoid any surface damage, place an old mat or a rug underneath the glass.
- Make sure to keep children and pets away for safety precautions.
Step 2. Clean the Glass
- Take a glass cleaner over a soft cloth and wipe the surface of your glass where you are planning to cut.
- Let it dry.
Step 3. Measure Mark, and lubricate the Glass
- Place a ruler on the glass and mark the place you want to cut with a marker or a piece of tape.
- Put oil over the marked surface of the glass. Lubricate material will give you a smooth and even cut.
Step 4. Score the Glass
- Put the cutter on the marked surface of the glass and start cutting
- Apply some pressure on the cutter and keep the cutter titled and angled towards you.
- Move the cutter along the entire surface of the marked glass until it finishes.
- Do not run the cutter back and forth if you miss some spots.
Step 5. Break the Glass
- Lift and hold both sides of the cut-glass material.
- Apply some pressure to break the glass into two parts, like breaking potato chips from the center.
- If the glass doesn’t break, apply more pressure and twist a little to split apart.
